Amsterdam
and Dutch National Television
In March, Marilyn
and I were in Europe for two weeks of ministry activities. We began
in Amsterdam, where I spoke in the largest, fastest growing church
in the Netherlands. On Sunday morning after I preached, many responded
to the invitation for repentance and healing from sin's deadness
(I was told over a hundred came to the altar for prayer.) Two young
women were saved. Another told me that God had dramatically healed
her from years of abuse and self-hatred.
Speaking at
the Berea Church in Amsterdam
Many responded
to the invitation for new freedom in Christ.
Tuesday, March
13, was another powerful "God Day" at the Dutch National
Television Studios in Hilversum, the Netherlands (the Dutch equivalent
of our Hollywood). As a result of a brief TV interview I did during
Amsterdam 2000 last summer, Dutch National Television had invited
me to return to the Netherlands to videotape a program that would
be broadcast into EVERY home in the Netherlands, as well as into
Belgium and parts of Germany. It also was to be simultaneously broadcast
on the internet through the world-wide web.
The purpose of the program was to communicate the essence of the
Christian gospel to post-modern Dutch citizens. This show, which
was produced by a superb group of Dutch believers who work in broadcast
communications, was straight to the point. Its in-your-face kind
of format was designed to appeal to a broad range of people who
neither knew nor understood the Gospel.
On the set of Geloven.TV, broadcast to every home in the Netherlands
The taping went very smoothly. I was interviewed as I sat beside
and dialogued with one of the fifty members of Dutch Parliament.
This man, Leen van Dijk, is the lone, clear Christian voice in a
legislative body that is leading that nation into a moral abyss,
spoke passionately about everyone¹s need for God. We both were
able to give bold witness to the reality of Jesus Christ and the
powerful changes that result when He is invited into a hurting human
heart.
I really believe that Father used this program in a profound way
in Europe. I thank our Lord for giving me this extraordinary opportunity
to work with men and women who have a clear vision for reaching
their nation through a combination of television and cutting edge
computer/internet technology. And I am so very grateful for those
who support us through their financial gifts and prayers. These
gifts and prayers allow us to successfully walk through the open
doors that God puts before us.
